AGORA Tools and Public Data

Here we collect the AGORA common initial conditions (ICs), examples of common analysis yt scripts used in the Project, the galaxy simulation snapshots produced by AGORA, and more.  Consider joining the Collaboration with no obligation, especially if you want to learn more about the AGORA common ICs and analysis scripts used in the Project.  Simply send an email to the Project coordinatorContact us if you have any other question, too!

COMMON INITIAL CONDITIONS (I):  COSMOLOGICAL

● We provide cosmological zoom-in ICs (MUSIC parameters) for 8 different types of galaxy-sized halos.  [Read more]

Described in the AGORA Flagship Paper (Section 2.1; ADS, arXiv) and in Paper III (Section 2; ADS, arXiv

Key software required:  MUSIC by Oliver Hahn et al.

For more information on MUSIC (e.g., method paper, user group) visit Workspace, then Home+FAQs → Key Softwares  (membership required)

More information about the ICs by AGORA Working Group III:  Workspace → Task-oriented WGs →  Working Group III  (membership required)

More tests by AGORA Working Groups III+VI:  Workspace → Paper Group "Flagship"  (membership required)

COMMON INITIAL CONDITIONS (II):  ISOLATED

● We provide isolated disk galaxy ICs (binary files + Readme file) for a Milky Way-sized halo at 3 different numerical resolutions.  [Read more]

Described in the AGORA Flagship Paper (Section 2.2; ADS, arXiv) and in Paper II (Section 2; ADS, arXiv)

More information about the ICs by AGORA Working Group II:  Workspace → Task-oriented WGs → Working Group II  (membership required)

Script by Thompson to convert ASCII data to GADGET ICs (type 1):  Workspace → Task-oriented WGs → Working Group II  (membership required)

More tests by AGORA Working Groups II+V:  Workspace → Paper Group "Disk"  (membership required)

COMMON PHYSICS PACKAGE

● To ensure consistent comparison across codes, AGORA simulations use the common physics library GRACKLE, which features equilibrium/non-equilibrium primordial chemistry and cooling, tabulated metal cooling, and a metagalactic UV background.  We also adopt several other common physics prescriptions such as Jeans pressure floor, star formation, and metal production.  [Read more]

Described in the AGORA Flagship Paper (Section 3; ADS, arXiv), in Paper II (Section 3; ADS, arXiv) and in Paper III (Section 3; ADS, arXiv

Key software required:  GRACKLE by Britton Smith et al. (visit this page for instructions to build the library and to implement the backend within a simulation code)

For more information on GRACKLE (e.g., method paper, user group) visit Workspace, then Home+FAQs → Key Softwares  (membership required)

More information by AGORA Working Group I:  Workspace → Working Group I  (membership required)

COMMON ANALYSIS PLATFORM

● To allow consistent comparison independent of analysis tools used, we build an analysis toolkit on a common platform YT, which seamlessly reads the snapshots from all the participating code groups in AGORA.  [Read more]

Described in the AGORA Flagship Paper (Section 4.2; ADS, arXiv)

Example scripts used to create figures and plots in AGORA Papers by Ji-hoon Kim and AGORA Working Group IV
